Coaches

Be a TFA Coach....

All TFA coaches are volunteers.  No previous coaching experience is required.  TFA holds several Coaches meeting throughout the year (see calendar section for current year training opportunities).  The High School Football staff are at the meetings to help explain Coaching techniques, football drills, and how to work with the players.

Coaches will be a coach on their child's team.  It is not a requirement for coaches to have a child in the program.

The LMAA requires registration, background check and photo IDs.  The background checks must be conducted each year for every volunteer.

All coaches must also attend the mandatory rules meeting which is offered at three (3) different times.  See calendar for the dates and location.

In the weeks that follow registration the question is often asked “I’ve registered to coach, have I been accepted, or am I needed?” As a rule, our program does not turn away volunteer coaches that meet the above stated criteria.

2014 COACHES REGISTRATION PROCESS

ALL 2014 COACHES (HEAD, ASSISTANT OR HELPER) ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS BY AUGUST 1, 2014.

1.   Coaches Registration/Background Check (Through LMAA website).
2.  Hudl Registration (Playbook/Video online)
3.  Concussion Training (Through CDC website)
4.  USA Football Certification. 
          a)   The course fee is paid by the League.  
          b)   To receive a promo code please email Amy Barth at  
                amybarth@comcast.net and she will provide the 2014 code to  you.
         c)  If you completed the course last year - you CAN do the re-   
             certification  This is different than what was emailed out earlier this 
             year. 
5.  Attend the TFA "O" Clinic, TFA Coaches Clinic and mandatory Rules Meeting. 
 

HUDL Registration

This information will no longer be provided on DVD during TFA Coaches Clinics. This is the same software the high school coaches and athletes use for the football season. TFA playbook, drills and plays will be on HUDL instead of DVD. You can access it from your computer, phone or tablet (iPhone, iPad, and Android apps available). Each coach must register for access to use the HUDL software.

CDC Concussion Head Up Training

This is required by State Law for every coach. Tonka Football Association requires each Coach to complete the course every other year. Please send your concussion certificate to Roger Lenahan at RogerL@cambridge-commercial.com by August 1, 2014.

USA Football Coaches Certification

All Coaches are required to complete the USA Football - Heads Up Coaches Certification by August 1, 2014. The $5.00 fee is paid for by the program. To receive the Promo Code please email Amy Barth @ amybarth@comcast.net to receive the code for the fee. All coaches are to complete the complete course and cannot complete the re-certification course as the USA Football Program updated the information for the 2014 season. There is a liability insurance policy that we do recommend you review upon your certification completion. The league will be reviewing all completions before badges are released to you.
