All TFA coaches are volunteers. No previous coaching experience is required. TFA holds several Coaches meeting through out the year including a drills review, playbook review, and a Coaches clinic. The High School Football staff are at the meetings to help explain Coaching techniques, football drills, and how to work with the players.
Coaches will be a coach on their child's team. It is not a requirement for coaches to have a child in the program.
The LMAA requires registration, background check and photo IDs. The background checks will be conducted through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on every coach and volunetter in the program. Below is the link to the registration/background form on the LMAA website.
All coaches must also attend the mandatory rules meeting which is offered at two different times. See calendar for the dates and location.
In the weeks that follow registration the question is often asked “I’ve registered to coach, have I been accepted, or am I needed?” As a rule, our program does not turn away volunteer coaches that meet the above stated criteria.
